We have the honour to state that accoruing to a telegram received to-uay from our Shanghai Branch the British Authorities at Hongkong have appointed August lith, for the sale by auction of our bank premises. The price which we paid on April 1st. 1907 for the purchase of the site amounted to mex $ 184,600 and the cost of the new buildings begun
on Feb. 23rd 1:14 was mex $ 182,678.
We would observe that, so far as we are aware no claims against the bank at Hongkong, which might have furnished a reason for the sale by auc- tion, have been made good. On the contrary, consider- able cash assets must be in the possession of our
liquidators.
We beg that a protest may be entered through diplomatic channels against this sale by auction.
We have &c,
Deutsch-Asiatische Bank
Signatures.
